The Focus and Feature of Development

1. We strengthen industry-academia cooperation and enhance students’ employability: the curriculum is focused on relevant insurance and financial theories and emphasizes the student’s practical development. The agreement signed with insurance companies and Financial Planners Association provides students with semester and summer internship opportunities. We regularly organize workshops to share financial information with students.
2. Teachers are encouraged to study and upgrade the quality of teaching. The “Academic Research Awards Grants of Department in Insurance and Finance National Taichung University of Science and Technology” is established to encourage our faculty. The department purchases projectors and notebooks yearly to meet the demand for better equipment.
3. An Insurance Financial Services Center is established to serve teachers and students from various academic systems and has organized many license certifications. The number of students who passed the certification has been over 100; our students enjoy taking the license tests on campus.

Teaching Environment and Curriculum

A professional computer classroom (60 desktop computers fully networked with professional teaching software) exists. There are also four ordinary and resource-ordinary classrooms, 65 kinds of Western and Chinese text journals, seven notebooks and five portable projector units. We also provide every teacher with a notebook and a desktop computer.

Professional software for risk evaluation and decision analysis installed in the computer classroom, including econometric analysis software such as Classic Trader, Taiwan stock market real-time information database, actuaries, LISREL, SPSS BASE, SPSS AMOS and STATE / SE, and DEA.
