The department aims to cultivate interdisciplinary talents for the smart manufacturing of information technology and innovative applications, as required by manufacturing and technology industries. In order to accomplish this objective and enhance students’ competitiveness in the workplace of the future, the department plans courses based on “information technology and innovative application” and “smart production and quality control”, and values the cultivation of creative thinking, innovative management, teamwork, and interpersonal literacy.

In order to ensure the sustainable development of industries, central Taiwan needs the talents of smart manufacturing to fulfill the production scheduling and process management of smart manufacturing production lines and effectively enhance production capacity. The National Taichung University of Science and Technology, located in central Taiwan, plays a significant role in such promotion. Therefore, the department intends to develop interdisciplinary talents for the smart manufacturing of information technology and the promotion of innovative literacy. It aims to train students to utilize information technology and combine it with manufacturing technology to reinforce the industrial supply chain and value chain for the purpose of expediting industrial transformation and accomplishing smart manufacturing.
